In My Little Town by Brian Walton is essentially a classic rock song with country overtones. Very refreshing considering the rising popularity of music from the '70s through the '90s among younger audiences.

Witty and exciting, the song's premise is somewhat risque, poking fun at the subject of small-town drama and the naivete of the out-of-towners who fall for it. Although laced with sexual connotations, the terms remain adequately vague for a PG-13 audience and humorous enough to bring a smile to just about anyone's face.

Produced entirely by Brian in his studio in Challis Id. and polished up at 7even Studios in Santa Barbara Ca., the track features Brian's guitar picking prowess, accentuated by Guy Marks' straight-forward fiddle sawing. A nice touch is Jerry Mayers's military-style drum solo at the end of the guitar solo and Brian's B3 organ layer during the bridge.

Although a bit complex by today's standards (the full version has a Banjo intro also played and sung by Brian), The bridge and solos are kept short but tastefully sweet. Brian's vocals are intentionally simplistic, and the overall polished production accentuates Brian's and the 7even Studios team's over 30-year music industry experience.

In My Little Town Lyrics

Friend, let me tell you about my little town
She’s a downhome beauty, second to none
The prettiest place that you ever have seen
Friendliest folks if you know what I mean

Cause, there’s big drama in my little town
Where the rumors go on round and round
Got the sniffles at noon, you’re dead by 9
You don’t lose your partner, you lose your place in line
Where a little bit of indiscretion
Can lead to a nasty reputation
Where too much drink and too much song
Is guaranteed to treat you wrong

In my little town
Yeah, In my little town

Now, there’s this smoking hot blue jean baby
She loves to drive all the cowboys crazy
But there’s more to her than meets the eye
All the shadow and rouge disguise a lie
Cause there’s something else you should know
Her hubby is propped up there at the door
Drunk as Hell, he won’t do a thing
But, the babies at home will ruin your swing

In my little town
Yeah, In my little town

Cause, there’s big drama in my little town
Where the rumors go on round and round
Got the sniffles at noon, you’re dead by 9
You don’t lose your partner, you lose your place in line
Where a little bit of indiscretion
Can lead to a nasty reputation
Where too much drink and too much song
Is guaranteed to treat you wrong
Well, A good time can be had by all
Just check your conscience at the door
Just know this and know it well
You mess around here, it might be hell

In my little town
Yeah, In my little town

In my little town
Yeah, In my little town
